To build and create something out of passion for the cause - that was the driving force of Dr. Ing. Jens Wallner. According to his ideas, he created and shaped the company that still bears his name today.
The enthusiastic motorcyclist grew up in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and started his career in Magdeburg, where he studied mechanical engineering and later earned his doctorate in this field. In December 1999, Dr. Wallner Engineering GmbH was born. In 2003 Jens Wallner died as a result of a car accident.
I probably met Jens for the first time in 1994. At that time, I had just finished my studies and he was working for UGS as a consultant to promote the then relatively new product Unigraphics. At that time, we were faced with the challenge of introducing a new CAD system for the company Freudenberg Dichtungs- und Schwingungstechnik, since it was clear that our existing system would not survive the turn of the millennium. Jens was the one who finally convinced us that Unigraphics was the right CAD system for us. He was able to show things in Unigraphics during benchmarks that were not adopted into the standard by UGS until years later because of his expertise and speed in implementing system customizations. That's why we chose Unigraphics at that time, which, together with you as a partner, still drives us today.
Personally, I have come to know Jens as extremely competent, pragmatic and positively unconventional. It often happened that he came by with his motorcycle - I think it was a BMW GS 1100 - between two customer visits to quickly apply a patch or a configuration adjustment. There was no internet yet and we were still sitting behind thick Unix workstations and huge tube monitors at that time. He was "on fire" for the further development of Unigraphics and the cooperation was always friendly/partnership-like without neglecting the professional/business part. In addition, I got to know him as a particularly interesting person with a very exciting resume up to that point, which also extremely enriched the conversations alongside our professional activities. I am extremely glad that I had the opportunity to get to know him and to have walked part of the path together with him at the beginning of my professional life.
